Taking flight, don't think about it, buy it! -
Having purchased many art books, I have had many disappointments. "Taking Flight" however is one book which I would highly recommend you add to your library. The inspirations given are priceless. The techniques are very simple and allow for plenty of room for your own creative bend. Will I give you a run down on the contents? No. It would be an injustice to you, as this book has so much to offer, not only to the creative individual with their art but also to the intellectual mind and the feeling soul. Buy it! A rare book indeed!

Great Inspiration -
I found Taking Flight to be inspiring and motivating and gave me the impetus to try some new techniques in my art. I think this would be especially great for women who want to explore their creativity but have been scared to take the leap. Reading Kelly Rae's personal story inter-twined with the techniques worked really well and I really enjoyed it and would recommend it.

For Beginners - 
I was a blog follower for many months and liked the techiniques Kelly showed. The book has good step by step information. I understand she has a background in social work and the book reflects her need for soul connecting to art in a group hug way.
Have used the book and gotten good results. The step by step is easy to follow.
Great book for a budding junior high school artist who needs technique and direction.

Great for all levels of artists -
I am so excited to have found this book and this artist! She describes a desire that I have had but have been too afraid, or reluctant to persue...that of persuing my creativity in a more serious way. The format of this book is unique. Kelly Rae offers some insight of her artistic journey, some tips and exercises for our own journey, whatever it may be. She also include interviews with various artists and how they have dealt with the issues and challenges of listening to their creative sides. And then there is my favorite part...the projects! I love the projects offered in this book. I have completed one so far and as someone with VERY little art experience, I was able to complete the project with ease. The pictures are great, the directions are clear, and she is very specific about what materials are needed, though I imagine that much is stuff that people with art experience have on hand. I cannot say enough about this beautiful book. You will not regret this purchase. It is many art classes in one very inexpensive art book.
