What happens when a great baker goes Vegan? Family, friends and co-workers panic, that is until that baker tries her hand at Vegan baking.
The Joy of Vegan Baking was a wonderful guide book on learning how to turn well loved treats into vegan treats.
I first made Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins, then Blueberry Lemon muffins both were very good. I altered the lemon recips to create lemon poppyseed for my oldest daughter.
The big hit was the Chocolate cake (page 72), I made it as a single layer, not knowing what the taste reviews would be, and instead of the frosting made a simple vanilla glaze and added vegan chocolate chips. Even the biggest carnivore of the family loved it.
I love that most recipes don't really require anything out of the ordinary, some vegan cookbooks have you running to the natural food store just to get proper ingrediants. I appreciate the easy recipes and fanatastic results.
Highly recommended.

My all-time favourite baking book! Whenever i want to bake something, i grab straight for this book. Colleen Patrick-Goudreau has written it beautifully, along with stunning photographs and fool-proof recipes. The book covers everything possible when it comes to baking and desserts, and the variety is endless. Wonderful recipes which come out great everytime, and will always impress!
A cut above the rest -
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this cookbook. Everything I've made out of it has turned out perfectly, and been super tasty to boot. The Joy of Vegan Baking is by far the best Vegan Cookbook for the money I've bought yet. It has tons of yummy desserts that do not taste "alternative". I often bring in the brownies and cookies to work and my coworkers never know that they're eating a Vegan dessert until I tell them! I highly recommend, especially if you're a new Vegan who still wants to eat all of the same desserts you grew up on, only Vegan! :) LOVE IT!
Vegan, but just white flour and sugar - 
I prefer to use at least half whole grain and better sweetener choices than this book calls for. Yes, I can adjust the recipes, but they are otherwise so unhealthful, that I don't bother. I can't understand all the hoopla over this cookbook. It honestly seems that as long as a book has Vegan in the title, it will get mostly 5 stars. I agree with the other reviewer who said there's better choices out there.

The Joy of Vegan Baking has the perfect title because it truly does bring JOY to anyone who eats one of the amazingly delicious recipes in this cookbook.
Both my vegan friends and my meat-eating family (who usually cannot even tell they are eating vegan cookies) constantly request treats from The Joy of Vegan Baking. My friends require me to bring Colleen's No-Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie to every party we have. And the best part is that this recipe (and all her recipes) is so incredibly easy to make!! It probably takes 5 minutes!
And Colleen's helpful tips and knowledge about ingredients simplifies the whole process of baking. She provides a great index and useful resource pages. Whether I am looking to make an elegant dessert (the Lemon Cheesecake is stunning!) or a simple breakfast (my family requests the Currant Scones weekly), I can always find an easy-to-follow recipes in The Joy of Vegan Baking and it always turns out delicious. This cookbook is a great way to bring joy to those you love!
