Necks, hair, lips, legs, eyebrows, nails, tummies -- Nora Ephron doesn't miss a female body part in this funny, friendly collection of personal essays. If you are one of the dozen or so people who have NOT read this book yet, I highly recommend it. It's perfect for the beach, a lazy afternoon, or read aloud to a friend who needs a laugh. My favorite essays covered the absurd expense of being an urban woman, thoughts on why JFK didn't sleep with the author, and a love letter to the author's favorite apartment. As an author myself, the quality of Ephron's prose was not lost on me. In fact, I enjoyed this collection so much, I've vowed to read humorous essays all summer. Thank you, Nora Ephron. I hope you will be writing regardless of what happens...to your neck.

a women's read that is funny and true -
I am nuch younger than Nora Ephron but it didn't matter in the least -- I found her book to be hysterically funny and one of the reasons is she hits the mark on what women about and worry about. But truly it his her "voice" she is self-depreciating and light. She never brags or sounds fake or like she is trying to write like she is someone else. If you are searching for a novel, this is not you book. It is a collection of stories about her life and how hitting 60 affects her in many ways and one of them is her neck! So, girls, protect that neck! I have always been a huge fan of Nora Ephron, my favorite being, I believe Heartburn, the movie with Jack Nicholson and Meryl Streep. Since I grew up in Washington among the journalists, it made so mmuch sense and is actually the closest story I know of to my novel. But "I Feel Bad About My Neck" holds a different kind of appeal and makes you laugh outloud and also teaches you that perhaps your idiocyncicies are not as abnormal as you beleive. Not for me -
Let me start off by saying that I mostly read fiction (I read to escape) and even though I've read nonfiction books that I've loved, a lot of nonfiction just doesn't appeal to me. I didn't enjoy this book much at all. I did like the essay about reading called On Rapture, but the rest just fell flat for me. I didn't find her funny at all. I also didn't find her insightful or interesting in the least. I feel like this book's only redeeming quality was that it was short and I was able to read it in just a few hours.
